About the Session
The Art of Asking
A playful workshop about connection, curiosity and the power of a simple question: “Can I?”
How do we connect with strangers? How do we communicate what we want, what we don’t want, and what feels right in the moment?
Join creative facilitators for a playful, interactive experience exploring communication, boundaries and human connection through games, conversation and embodied activities.
Workshop Structure
Welcome & Introduction
Introductions and workshop overview.
Establishing shared expectations and creating a respectful space.
Eye Gazing Exercise
A gentle opening activity encouraging presence, observation and connection.
Conversation: Boundaries & Communication
A facilitated discussion exploring communication, personal boundaries, non-verbal cues and the everyday situations where clarity and respect become important.
The Ask
Participants form two lines and rotate through a series of brief interactions.
Round One focuses on positive social connection through the exchange of genuine compliments.
Round Two introduces permission-based requests, such as “May I hug you?” or “May I touch your hair?” Participants are encouraged to confidently decline requests or establish boundaries by responding with “no.”
This exercise normalises both asking and declining, demonstrating that clear boundaries create safer and more respectful interactions.
The Minotaur
A facilitator wearing a Minotaur mask, which limits their vision, becomes an interactive character that participants engage with through permission-based questions.
The activity introduces humour, improvisation and curiosity while reinforcing respectful communication in a playful setting.
It is facilitated with clear participant boundaries and encourages playful exploration of communication, curiosity and personal space.
Minotaur in the Middle
The workshop concludes with an energetic group game where participants take turns embodying the Minotaur, applying the themes of spatial awareness, communication and playful interaction in a collaborative environment.
